Our Reading Bowl team did an awesome job competing today. They came in 4th of 10 schools. They read books, answered quiz bowl type questions, and had fun! #CowanCan #ReadingBowl









This year's Griffin-Spalding County District Reading Bowl at GRCCA saw ten elementary schools compete in a celebration of literacy and learning. Our first student has completed the Gameboard Challenge for Read Across America. An entirely filled in (and initialed board) earns a token for the book vending machine! GSCS school nursing services provided a free community screening event for students registering for Griffin-Spalding County Schools in conjunction with Pre-K registration. They provided free screenings for hearing, vision, nutrition and dental yesterday and will again tomorrow.

Our Lost and Found box is overflowing - a LOT! Please come check it out next Thursday or Friday during the below times and claim the items that belong to your household. Despite the kids telling us the items are "not theirs", these coats did not walk into school alone! Someone paid good money for them and these items would like to go home.

Thursday, March 7 from 3:30pm - 7:30 pm (this includes the time frame of the Math Night which we hope you are coming to!)

All remaining items after March 8 will be donated locally.

{EDITED: correcting dates}: We kick off Read Across America on Monday, March 4 with our "Score with a Good Book" theme. Wear a sport shirt, team jersey, OR a book/reading themed shirt.
On Tuesday, students will bring home a Reading Board Game that will be due by March 29 to earn a token to the book vending machine.
